Easter Sunday

We had an awesome day celebrating our risen Savior.

When we got up, we read the story of Jesus' resurrection and West opened his Easter "basket."  This year his basket ended up being a backpack - much more practical since he needed something smaller than the diaper bag for the new older class he's in at church.  He also got his first matchbox cars and a new Bible.

Next we ate some cinnamon rolls (picture is courtesy of our tripod - Brad told me other day that it's weird when I put tripod pics on the blog because it looks like somebody else was in our house taking the pics- haha).  I had to rush on out after breakfast to teach the toddler class at church during the first service (I do this every other month), and then Brad and West met me there and we went to church together for the second service.
We took some more pics with the tripod after church.

Then we went inside, ate lunch, and put West down for a nap.  My dad, brother, and sister got here around 3:30 and when West woke up we headed outside to dye Easter eggs.  West wasn't too sure about it at first, but then dove right in and love it!

After the egg-dyeing we grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs and then hid the eggs for West to find on his first official egg hunt.  (Ok, more like we rolled them out into the yard in very conspicuous places.)

He was a little pro.  Next year we'll have to find some better hiding places (which will be tough in our bare yard!!).

We finished up the day with some more family pics.

Great day all around!!

Christmas with Grandpa Kenny

Last Sunday we had my dad and brother over for Christmas (Katie was sick and couldn't make it).  West loved pulling them around showing off all his toys, and he insisted they read him lots of books.  It's fun to see how different he is when people are in his territory vs when he's somewhere new.  AKA he's a lot bossier here at home!  :)
Brad taught him how to raise his hands up when asking where something/someone is.  I guess he's wondering where a certain animal is in the book.  Too funny.
LOVES his new John Deere tractor scooter!!

Christmas Eve and Morning

On Christmas Eve we were supposed to have my dad, brother, and sister over for dinner after our Christmas Eve service at church, but we had been sick with a stomach bug the night before and earlier that day so we had to postpone.  We took it pretty easy, though we did make it out for the Christmas Eve service because we were feeling a little better then and didn't want to miss it.  Afterwards we had dinner and kept West up a little later than usual watching "It's a Wonderful Life" in his new pj's.  Before bed we read the story of Jesus' birth and "The Night Before Christmas."
Christmas morning we didn't want anything too heavy on our stomachs, so we ended up having cinnamon toast cut into Christmas shapes for breakfast and then opened stockings and presents.
West got new toothpaste, toothbrushes, and forks in his stocking and new plates, a warm fleece jacket, and a keyboard as presents.
He had to put each piece of paper that he tore off on the ottoman.
